Trying hard to control the things that are beyond your control only make the things slip further more out of your control.

23rd April 2025

Dear precious angel,

Keeping our precious things, people and even our moments protected from slipping from our hands is the trait almost all human beings have inside their heart. Intensity to protect may differ from person to person but that trait to protect our precious things, people and moments does exist more or less. But the problem is while trying to protect those things we tend to make the situation more complicated. I recall those days when I used to give physio therapy to my nana (passed away on 28th April 2023) more than an hour, shouting at him so loud when he couldn’t do it well because he was exhausted or his body was unable to respond well sometime. Today I realize I shouldn’t have shouted at him at all, I should have cared him more delicately like a newly born baby but I used to think if I managed to make him do “perfect” exercise then his body would improve or at least would not deteriorate further but at what cost? At the cost of shouting on him so badly and making him feel nervous or even so bad from inside!! It was the phenomena of trying to control the things that are beyond our control and end up being miserably failed in it. In this way there are so many instances in my life where I tried hard to keep my precious things and people protected from losing them but in that process, I made the situation more annoying by harming my dignity & self-respect for giving benefit of doubts to the things and people involved.

It’s totally okay that we love our precious things a lot but trying to grab them so tightly in order to protect them creates more tension and negative energy. We need to understand that the things that truly belong to us never goes far away from us for so long and the things that do not belong to us do not remain with us forever. Afterall loving someone or something doesn’t necessarily mean that it needs to remain with us.

Yours, Vivek Prasad
